This information is provided as a courtesy in response to requests from customers. It includes a list of the most frequently asked questions about the masks.  Hopefully you will find them informative.

How do you clean the mask?

There are 4 parts to wash: the plastic body frame, silicone face seal, the main pleated filter and straps.

They are easily separable and need to be cleaned regularly.

Plastic parts should be washed with soap and water.  This article explains why we recommend using soap: The science of soap – here’s how it kills the coronavirus.

Main pleated filter - this is a replaceable filter.

Silicone straps are washable with soap and water. Allow to dry before reusing.

The mask filter body contains the battery and electric fan. While it is designed to be water resistant, we recommend wiping it clean with a dry or slightly damp cloth.

How often do the filters need cleaning?

We recommend replacing the filters periodically. They are designed for 150 hours of use in a normal environment.  If your environment is more contaminated, then more frequent replacing is recommended.

Is there a mask that fits a child?

Yes, our small size fits children from about 8-9 years old.

What is the material of the straps, how is it cleaned?

Straps are made from sturdy, low-shrinkage silicone. They are easily cleaned with soap and water.

How long can you wear the mask comfortably during a single usage.

The mask is ergonomically designed to fit the curvature of the user's face. The perimeter seal is permanently attached to the mask for further comfort. The air flow is fan assisted and the fan can run on one battery charge for up to 8 hours. This provides for comfortable usage for this entire time.

What is the air quality like inside? (ie is it very warm, humid)

The air flow is fan-assisted and provides a continuous supply of fresh air, eliminating moisture and overheating inside the mask.

Is CO2 accumulation a concern? Are oxygen levels acceptable?

Due to the unique design of the fan-assisted air flow, the inside of mask doesn't experience unpleasant build-up of carbon dioxide. It also prevents you from breathing in recycled air.

Would the seals ever dry out?

The seal is a closed-cell foam, it won't dry out under normal conditions of use and storage.

Is there a warranty?

This mask is for personal use, non transferable to another individual once used.

There is warranty for manufacturing defects.

How durable is the plastic? What happens if I drop it?

Plastic is durable and, if dropped from the height of your hand, should not shatter or break. However, the plastic can develop cracks depending on the height from which it is falling, the surface to which it is falling and the frequency of this occurring. We recommend replacing the mask if cracks appear.

How do we know when 150 hours are up? Is there a way to test it?

150 hours is an estimate and the user is advised to use common sense to estimate the usage, if in doubt, washing/disinfecting filter more frequently is a good idea.

Do you provide a cleaning kit or do I only need soap and water?

You don't need a cleaning kit. Use any hand soap, dish soap or the most preferably - baby soap. The reason for baby soap is that it is hypoallergenic. The mask is located in a close proximity to the user's eyes and, as such, hypoallergenic soap products are more preferable.

Are there replacement parts? Could I order more than one filter?

Due to uncertainty of the contamination level of different areas, we recommend that you carry a set of extra filters with you at all times. So if you end up in a situation where your filters become contaminated, you can replace them.

Replacement filters are available for purchase.

Does the mask/shield fog up, do my glasses fog up while in use?

The mask shield should not fog up as the shield is installed outside the seal. Your glasses could fog up if there is not a good seal created between the mask and the user's face. If that's the case, the user needs to adjust the seal by heating up the seal and conforming it to the face.

What happens if the foam or seal gets wet from my own breath/vapor? Does that effect its efficiency?

The efficiency of the filter cartridge should not be negatively affected from moisture in your breath.

What if the battery is drained and I cannot charge it or if my fan fails?

The efficiency of the filter cartridge should not be negatively affected and the breathing will be still very acceptable due to the large amount of surface area of the filters.
